Lana Mahoney

Lana Mahoney is the Executive Director of Recover Wyoming, the state's only Recovery Community Organization (RCO). A lifelong Wyoming resident and Cheyenne community member for more than 30 years, Lana has dedicated her career to expanding access to recovery support services and strengthening Wyoming's peer recovery workforce.
Lana began her journey with Recover Wyoming in 2011 as a volunteer and has since served in numerous leadership roles, including Administrative Assistant, Laramie County Veterans Treatment Court Coordinator, Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) Case Manager, and Peer Specialist Training Coordinator. Her diverse experience has given her a deep understanding of the recovery continuum and the unique needs of individuals, families, and communities affected by substance use and mental health challenges.
As Executive Director, Lana leads statewide initiatives that expand recovery support services, develop strategic partnerships, and advocate for recovery-oriented systems of care. Under her leadership, Recover Wyoming has continued to grow its impact by increasing access to peer support services, advancing the Peer Specialist profession, providing statewide training and technical assistance, and collaborating with healthcare providers, government agencies, and community organizations to improve recovery outcomes across Wyoming.
Lana is a person in long-term recovery and a Certified Peer Specialist with Mastery and Forensic endorsements. She holds an Associate of Arts degree in Education from Laramie County Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Wyoming, and a Master's Certificate in Nonprofit Administration from Colorado State University. She also serves as a member of the Wyoming Governor's Behavioral Health Advisory Council, where she helps shape behavioral health policy and supports efforts to strengthen recovery services throughout the state.
Outside of her professional work, Lana enjoys spending time with her four children. She loves camping, family barbecues, and cheering them on at their sporting events.
Lana is passionate about ensuring that every person seeking recovery has access to hope, support, and opportunity. She believes lasting recovery is built through connection, lived experience, and strong community partnerships, and she remains committed to creating systems where recovery can thrive for individuals, families, and communities across Wyoming.
